Serve with The Twilight Brigade

Why get involved?

As many as 2,000 veterans are dying each day.

Approximately 70,000 veterans will pass this month.

More than 600,000 veterans will die this year.

Many of these veterans will die without a single visit from a family member or friend.

Whether veteran or civilian, too many people are dying alone. The dying are one of this nation’s most unrecognized and under-served groups.

As people reach the end of life they are often ignored, discounted, and treated as children or as objects. The end of life is challenging enough without the anguish of isolation. Join us in helping to see that no one dies alone.
The Twilight Brigade believes we should be there for veterans who were there for us. Volunteer support is critical for everyone but especially veterans who oftentimes do not have a strong network of support. Because of their military service and experiences, veterans have additional emotional and spiritual needs as they approach the end of life, particularly combat veterans.

What can we accomplish?

The Twilight Brigade has mobilized a band of nearly 6,000 trained volunteers and has chapters and affiliates in 20 cities across the United States. Our volunteers are visiting patients and their families in VA facilities, hospices, nursing homes and assisted living centers across the country. We wish to establish a corps of volunteers in every state and in every VA facility.
