About The Twilight Brigade

The Twilight Brigade is one of the largest end-of-life care communities operating as an independent agency within VA hospitals and hospice care facilities across America.

The Twilight Brigade Chairman, Dannion Brinkley, and the approximately 5,500 volunteers nationwide that collectively make up The Twilight Brigade, are dedicated to being at the bedside of our nation’s dying, especially Veterans.

Our Mission - Compassion in Action

The Twilight Brigade is a California-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 1997 for the primary purpose of raising society’s consciousness about the needs of the dying, especially Veterans -- through community and professional education, advocacy, and direct service to the terminally ill and their loved ones, ensuring that no one need die alone.
The Twilight Brigade’s objective is to be a leader in providing and standardizing end-of-life care for Veterans. It has developed a highly differentiated nonprofit service strategy based on its understanding of the unique needs of dying Vets and their survivors.

The Twilight Brigade first introduced end-of-life care and companionship in the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Administration (GLA/VA)—the flagship of the 166 VA centers. The Twilight Brigade remains headquartered on the GLA/VA campus to this day. From the core competencies developed and refined there, the Twilight Brigade has been expanding its services at VA centers nationwide-wide, with chapters located at VA’s across the U.S.
